Fabienne & Marco were such an exciting couple to work with wanting lots of colour and texture for their wedding flowers this brief was a dream! A big part of the wedding was having loads of fresh fruit. Her heritage is Dominican and as part of their culture, if someone visits your house, they will always leave with fresh fruit as a gift. So, we had loads of fruit and paper bags so people could take them away at the end! It was my job to blend Fabienne & Marco’s Italian/Dominican/British heritages in luxury florals. Keep scrolling to find out how I packed Fabienne & Marco’s wedding day with exotic flowers, and heaps of texture bursting with bright citrus at Old Gore Barn.
Old Gore Barn near Cirencester was such a wonderful Cotswolds Wedding Venue to dress with my flowers. The classic Cotswolds stone, set among idyllic countryside. The converted barn has beautifully converted outdoor areas with cosy firepits and festoon lighting. In the ceremony space, the double-height hallway is perfect for creating dramatic floral moments, and stunning large glazing floods the halls and dining area with light.
For Fabienne & Marco’s bright and colourful fruit-infused wedding I started in the ceremony space. Attaching pew ends to the aisle chairs, I used a mixture of textural pieces, alongside quicksand roses, striking red anthuriums, gypsophila, and statement flowers like brownie tulips. To add depth, interest, and a modern aesthetic to the beautiful rustic barn space.
For the end of the aisle, we created one of my favourite statement pieces of the day. I created four bespoke vase arrangements which we placed at staggered heights on top of white plinths. The exquisite cluster of alternative florals packed a punch. Orchids spilled from vases, Ammi added deep purple texture and elements such as delphiniums and foxgloves created height and shape creating a magnificent backdrop against which the happy couple would say I do alongside overflowing fruit baskets.
For the couple’s welcome sign, we choose to dress the space with oranges and lemons. They introduced an abundance of fruit throughout the day from the get-go. The bright oranges and yellows were the perfect radiant colours to contrast beautifully with the deep burgundy, purple, red, and brownie pinks of my florals.
Later at the reception, we repurposed one of my favourite pieces from the day. The giant rustic stone vase from the ceremony plinths we bright across to dress the drinks reception. The large-scale installation was the perfect attention-grabbing piece. Using large plumes of Cotinus (smoke bush), stokes, orchids, roses, and delphiniums. I would always suggest if you want to add an extra bit of personality to your flowers invest in a statement piece that can be reused.
For the wedding breakfast I lined the banquet tables with a mixture of luxury floral vases and bespoke budvases with the finest stems hand-picked to elevate the tablespace. The long room with wooden beamed ceilings created a cosy atmosphere the glazing running the length of the room making the best of the charming Cotswolds wedding venue’s location.
