Boho Wedding Flowers at Avon Gorge Hotel, Clifton

I arrived at the Avon Gorge Hotel in Clifton. As the name suggests, the hotel is perfectly placed on the edge of the Avon Gorge, right next to Bristol’s famous suspension bridge. Luckily, it was a clear day to see this beautiful Bristol landmark as I braved the steep streets of Clifton and the supplier entrance to bring Maja and Stuart’s floral vision to life.

Inside the hotel, the industrial brick walls have been beautifully designed to be celebrated with dark-coloured walls, luxurious earth-toned carpets, and a lots of Art Deco chandeliers. It feels like a luxurious cocoon for a private celebration, like you have been given access to a high-end secret location.

Maja’s bridal bouquet featured a boho-inspired palette. We used beautiful stems of green to create the shape and add a wild feel whilst weaving in the best seasonal flowers for a luxe, relaxed design and a few dried elements for depth and texture. Maja looked radiant holding the textural bouquet against her lace bodice, the earthy tones fitting perfectly with the deep natural tones of the décor.

For Stuart’s buttonhole, I combined dried grasses, bunny tails, and spray roses to create a perfect small cluster of textural elements that looked amazing against his dark suit and light pink tie. The use of textural elements brought a natural and organic feel to the floral elements of the day.

For the bridal party, we used the same dried elements we had for the buttonholes to make bespoke corsages. These textural and layered designs, using colours inspired by the boho style, in warm beiges and soft pastel tones. The smallest members of the bridal party, the flower girls, carried flower wands. As a nod to the groom’s pink tie and the soft pink chair drapes, I added lots of pink ribbons in velvet and silks, adding another element of texture and creating flower wands that would be any child’s dream to carry.

To create a soft and dreamy atmosphere for the wedding ceremony, I first added uniquely shaped glass vases along the aisle adorned with tall pampas grasses, blending sophisticated neutrals with the bold interior colours. On the registrar’s table, we added to the cohesive look of the wedding by filling a fashionable Gaia bowl with a lots of caramel roses, tall feathery astilbe, and fluffy blush flowers. The contrast against the white bowl made for a beautiful look. However, the show-stopping piece was the couple’s moon gate. We added a floral arrangement suspended from the top right corner of the golden loop, illuminated by a fun neon sign with the words ‘Happily Ever After’. Full of roses in blush, white, toffee, and an explosion of texture, the statement floral installation really brought the whole look together.

For Maja and Stuart’s wedding breakfast, we added plentiful bud vases to all of the tables. The different heights combined with the floral shapes and textures of the wedding made for the most spectacular optics, allowing guests to be enveloped by the floral language of the day from all angles without detracting from our couple sitting centre stage at the top table.
