Suzy and Ben were such an exciting and creative couple to work with. After our wedding consultation and hearing all their ideas, we decided on beautifully unique wedding florals—featuring all the soft tones of summer, faded roses, peaches, and terracottas, brightened with creams and whites spanning a gorgeous tonal range. We made sure their wedding flowers were modern and natural with a feminine elegance.

As I arrived at Wasing Park in Reading in the sunshine, I started by exploring the grounds. This exclusive wedding venue has so many beautiful spaces and buildings you can use for your wedding. I was so excited as I began to set up for the ceremony in the gardens at the venue’s Victorian summer house.

CEREMONY
For Suzy and Ben’s wedding ceremony, we decided to create ultra-modern designs on four plinths. The variation in heights and shapes made for a stunning display with significant impact. These fun floral meadow designs brought playful shapes and colours to this beautiful countryside oasis.

BRIDAL BOUQUET
For Suzy, I made a stunning bouquet using bright pastels and modern reflexed roses, as well as ferns, which were a specific request from the bride and groom to honour Ben’s New Zealand roots. Additionally, I included Phalaenopsis orchids and sweet peas to add interesting, elegant romance and a beautiful scent. The result was simply stunning when paired with Suzy’s amazing wedding dress.

BUTTONHOLES
For Ben’s buttonholes, the clients had once again asked for ferns, but this time the inspiration picture featured tiny baby ferns just uncurling. In a mission to go above and beyond for my clients, as always, I bought various types of ferns (not native to the UK) from my flower market suppliers, and even took my trusty sausage dog sidekick, Jasper, on a rather rainy walk in hopes of foraging some perfect ones—I might have even fallen down a muddy bank, all in the name of floral excellence! However, the results were amazing and looked stunning against Ben’s dark lapel.

WEDDING BREAKFAST
For the wedding breakfast, we were able to reuse the ceremony flowers. Starting with the round tables, we opted for simple bud vases arranged in a modern way with gorgeous reflexed roses, meaning all the focus could stay where it should be—on the top table and the repurposed ceremony flowers creating a show-stopping wedding flower display.
