Colour-drenched wedding flowers at London Rowing Club

Rose and Allyn’s brief for their wedding flowers was for vibrant electric-hued, eye-catching florals. Their love of bright, colour-drenched wedding flowers with a colour palette of blush, fuchsia, coral, apricot and citrus oranges was guaranteed to pack a punch. Keep reading to find out how my hand-crafted blooms brightened up their beautiful London wedding.

I arrived at The London Rowing club a riverside venue on Putney embankment as the sun was slowly rising over the river, soft honey-coloured rays of sunshine lingered across the bouquets, as I made my way through the award-winning wedding venue to the Long Room. The bright and airy space had ornate cornicing and hand-crafted fireplace surrounds. I knew my blooms would be the perfect pop of colour and a fun vibrant injection to the formal surroundings. It was time for me to create some floral magic for Rose and Allyn to delight their guests with luminous arrangements and immerse them in colourful wedding flowers.

FIREPLACE

I began with the focal point of the Long Room, sat directly behind the top table was an ornate white-fronted fireplace. To add a sense of excitement and intrigue and to attract people’s attention I opted for an off-centre floral arrangement.  I started by constructing a base of cloud-like gypsophila dyed a soft shade of pink which instantly broke up the all-white backdrop. The small pink dots make your eye move playfully across the arrangement rather than sit back like traditional foliage would. Next, I placed the most beautiful bright stems erupting out of the structure at all angles, A mixture of roses, dahlias, peonies, carnations, snapdragons and orchids in purples, roses, orange and pink created an impact piece just above the couple, framing them in beautiful blooms throughout their celebration.

THE BRIDAL BOUQUET

For Rose’s bouquet, I wanted to create something unique with instant impact. I opted for richly- hue blooms using roses, dahlia, peonies, carnations and snapdragons arranging the jewel-toned florals into an asymmetric arrangement for maximum impact when Rose held them. Captured beautifully by Kernwell Photography, falling elegantly across the front of her white silhouette the stems natural curves cascading with her movement creating a dazzling spectrum of petals- all eyes were on Rose, as they should be on her big day.

THE BUTTONHOLE

The groom wore a deep blue suit with sage green accessories. This natural earth palette was perfect to offset against his buttonhole. I put together a pale pink rose with a smaller much brighter orange spray rose and some lisianthus buds and tied the stems together with a delicate dusky pink ribbon. Allyn looked chromatic adorned with the lush and lively buttonhole, ready to say, “I Do”.

WEDDING BREAKFAST

The couple’s request for a riot of colour was met at their wedding breakfast. The long banquet tables seating Rose and Allyn’s closest friends and family were already dressed in crystal place settings and white tapered candles. I placed budvases in a dazzling spectrum of colours. Mirroring the florals of the day stems of dahlia, orchids, carnations, gypsophilia, peonies and snapdragons cascaded along the tables undulating like the river outside and weaving a floral tapestry of colour igniting the room with the couples delightful warm and fun-loving energy.

On the top table, I added vivid floral centerpieces in sleek white bowls, the modern shape brought a fun twist to the traditional room. I filled them with an abundance of peony pink, blush coloured and tangerine flowers. The mix of budvases and bowls filled the top table creating a divine floral oasis around Rose and Allyn who glowed among the striking sunlit florals as they enjoyed their evening overlooking the Thames.
