Spring Pastels at The Mount Without for Katrina and Matt

“Gemma thank you SO MUCH!! The flowers were incredible, you are absolute magic ” – Katrina and Matt

Nestled in the heart of Bristol lies one of my favourite hidden gems, The Mount Without. Its cavernous hall, adorned with time-worn patina, exudes a historic charm, making it the perfect canvas for weddings bursting with colour. From gothic extravaganzas to bright spring celebrations, this venue sets the stage for unforgettable nuptials. Last time I was at the venue was in November, creating an all-black and deep red gothic dream. However, keep reading to see how I can flower either end of the spectrum as I created a spring paradise for Katrina and Matt’s big day.

On the morning of their wedding, I ventured to meet the radiant bride-to-be. I had reassured her earlier in the week when she had stopped by to see me and said she was feeling unwell that I had also had shoulder injuries, blurred vision, the works the week before my wedding and then the morning of all of this melted away (with the help of a glass of champagne). However, when I saw Katrina getting ready surrounded by her bridesmaids, I was delighted to see she was feeling much better and this radiance shone through the whole day with her looking effortlessly joyous, helped of course by the showstopping colourful wedding flowers we had designed for her and her bridal party.

THE BRIDAL BOUQUET

In Katrina’s bouquet, we harmonised pastel spring flowers, capturing the fleeting beauty of ranunculus before it bid adieu to the season. Bright pops of pink and orange lent definition, ensuring the bouquet captivated in the impressive scale of the couple’s chosen venue.

BRIDESMAIDS BOUQUETS

Each bridesmaid held a single-stem bouquet, a trend I adore for its simplicity and elegance. The bouquets showcase one type of beautiful stem that made up the bride’s bouquet. I am so happy to have such a beautiful example of this trend as I did the same thing for my wedding last year and can’t yet share the photos as they are being published in a very exciting article (make sure you’re following my socials to see it in July). We picked pink ranunculus, tall and fluffy delphiniums, a cluster of lilac sweet peas smelling delicious, and of course, my personal favourite, peonies, which are only in season for a short time so we had to showcase them. If you would like this style of bridesmaid bouquet for your upcoming wedding, get in touch.

BUTTONHOLES

Matt, ever on trend, sported a floral pocket square, infusing his attire with personality and panache. What better way to stand out than with a burst of bright blooms adorning the groom’s ensemble?

CEREMONY

Against the backdrop of the historic chapel, we crafted meadow-style arrangements, brimming with vibrant florals. Hazel branches extended upwards, creating an ethereal illusion of nature growing from the chapel floor, ensuring all eyes were on the couple as they exchanged vows.

WEDDING BREAKFAST

Bud vases adorned the banquet tables, each holding a few delicate stems, weaving colour and personality throughout the venue. This is one of my favourite ways to dress the table as it means that no matter how much other decor or crockery are there, there’s always a bit of your personality and colour being drawn throughout the day without overpowering the balance. We also moved our meadows to in front of the couple’s top table creating maximum impact from reusing key florals.

As the day unfolded, Katrina and Matt’s spring floral vision came to life, a perfect palette to celebrate spring. To future couples dreaming of a bright and fresh spring wedding, I would love to help bring your vision to fruition. I invite 2025/2026 couples dreaming of similar weddings to get in touch.

Thank you, Katrina and Matt, for entrusting me with your springtime dreams.
