We were very intrigued when Wedding Planner, Ann from Ann Nicholas Weddings got in touch with us on behalf of Pizza Express to ask if we would be able to supply wedding flowers for 2 surprise weddings they were holding as part of their national advertising campaign.
We didn’t have much notice but a few phone calls and a week later our van was full of beautiful scented roses and fresh blooms and we were on our way to Pizza Express in St Pauls, London. The tones were hushed all through the setup as the bride and grooms’ family and friends sat nervously downstairs waiting for them to arrive and find out about the surprise.

One bride had a daughter who was brimming with excitement about the whole experience! She came over to see what I was creating with the flowers and helped me choose some blooms for her step-dad’s buttonhole.

Instead of preparing a bouquet in advance for the bride, I wanted to talk to her and find out what her style was and what she wanted in her wedding bouquet. After the initial shock had worn off, we chatted about styles and ideas and showed them the flowers I would be using in their designs. I’m so glad I did as one bride was a horticulturalist (so really knew her flowers!)

Both brides opted for very different styles so it was great to be able to create something bespoke for them, right in front of their eyes! Carina opted for a small, compact bouquet with delicately scented garden roses, bouncy ranunculus and some beautiful veronicas and only a little greenery.

Maddie, with the input of her closest friends opted for a big, boho design with lots of greenery and full of gorgeous white flowers, which looked fantastic as she walked down the aisle.

It was an exceptionally emotional day and a joy to be part of. Seeing the wedding flowers I created going viral on the internet was quite an amazing feeling! I wish both couples the best of luck with their next stage of their lives together.
